Hello, July was a fabulous month with many new beauty discoveries for me. Luckily for me, they were all winners with no major fails. I had to narrow down to the few that I felt were "Gold Medal" material. Yes, I have been watching the Olympics games non stop, they are exciting and addicting. Go USA!
Skincare - Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil
If this is good enough for Adriana Lima, VS model, it is good enough for me. I often get sucked into celebrity endorsements when it comes to beauty products, but this oil has been nothing but amazing. Since I finished Sunday Riley Juno which I love, I wanted to try a new facial oil because I like to experiment. Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil surfaced on to my radar after I read this article about the founder, Linda Rodin and the product. Rodin is in her 60's. She comes across as a really cool lady with her own unique sense of style and taste. Not to mention great skin to boot.
I use this luxurious natural oil on my face and neck at bedtime. I would describe it as "Liquid Gold". It is not greasy and I find the floral scent from the essential oils help me fall asleep. The downside of this product is that it does come with a hefty price tag. So I would consider repurchasing, but I will probably alternate it with a less expensive oil.
Rodin Olio Lusso Luxury Face Oil is available at Barneys New York.
Makeup - Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in 75 Peche Cuivre
This golden peach color eye pencil was an unexpected find for me. A few months ago, I was looking for a flesh tone pencil for the waterline at the Chanel counter at Macy's. They did not have anything close to what I was looking for, but I stumbled upon this color from the summer collection. This pencil is a sweet surprise in the sense that I can achieve the same bright eye look with it as compared to using a flesh color pencil. It is a versatile color that can be used on the lid, lower lash line, or waterline. If you haven't tried Chanel eye pencils before, you should know that they are really soft and easy to apply. The colors are pigmented and long lasting. The color would stay on my lower lash line for more than 10 hours, impressive!
Chanel Le Crayon Khol Intense Eye Pencil in 75 Peche Cuivre is available wherever Chanel is sold. I am not sure if this is a limited edition color or not.

Body Care - Melvita Scented Dry Oil
I have been using this dry oil after shower everyday for the last two weeks. I bought it from a sale event at Melvita's a while back. Some of the main ingredients include Pomegranate, Argan, and Moringa of which all have anti-aging and repairing properties. It comes in a spray glass bottle which I am not too crazy about because it is sometimes hard to spray the oil out and the bottle is weighty. The oil itself is very light and is easily absorbed on the skin. The scent is supposed to be orange blossom, but to me it smells more grassy or herbal on the skin. Overall, I like how it softens my skin without being too heavy and the ingredients are of natural origins. It can also be used on hair, but I have yet to try it on my hair. I have been using another oil as hair treatment and loving the results. I will report on that product later.
Thanks for reading. Until next post......
Oh that dry oil sounds wonderful! I am also quite curious about the Rodin perfume....
ReplyDeleteDry oils are fabulous in general, the Melvita one is no exception...I haven't smelled the Rodin perfume, I imagine it might smell like the facial oil?
DeleteWhat a great roundup! Linda Rodin looks amazing. (Thanks for the article!) There's been so much buzz about her oil that I am really tempted. The only things keeping me from buying it right now are 1) the price and 2) my highly sensitive skin. Eek. My skin though has been responding well to rosehip oil so I think I am going to stick w/ it for now.
ReplyDeleteThere are 11 essential oils in the Rodin oil, so it may or may not work for extreme sensitive skin. I am on the low sensitive end and it is fine for me. I understand you have to be very careful with your skin type, less is more:)

ReplyDeleteHello, Lola, wow, I just finished Sunday Riley Skin Adrenaline when I saw your comment. I wonder how the reformulation will change the Sunday Riley skincare line as a whole? I literally just started getting into her products:(. Thanks for the heads up and lovely words.

DeleteI just received an email from Sunday Riley directly saying that she is not reformulating her line. She saw my update post stating that my skincare reviews were based upon the original formulas- not any potential upcoming newly formulated products and said that she wanted to set the record straight since so many rumors were floating around! So at long last the mystery is solved!
DeleteLola, I like using Olio Lusso just as much as Juno, they both give me an instant glow. I have been using Olio Lusso at night only because it feels slightly heavier than Juno. Juno is a dry oil, so I think it works better under makeup in the daytime. They both contain a long list of good ingredients, but the ingredients are very different when you compare them side by side. I would like to alternate in buying Juno (but I am not sure about the reformulation? We shall see this Fall!) and Olio Lusso if I could. I discovered Ladi Avokanto at Barneys in the winter and first sampled it in extreme cold weather when I traveled to Turkey last year. So far I am reserving it for the cooler months and like it better as a night treatment:) Have a good week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the assessment. I would apply the Juno trick with both the Rodin and Sponge oils as well. If you cut down the amount and really warm it in your hands I think that you will find that each will absorb just as easily as Juno. I tried that with both and it worked really well. I think the key is in using far less and really warming it up. I'm definitely interested in trying Olio Lusso as well. I heard that Juno was definitely getting reformulated, but like you said- we'll really have to see what they actually end up doing come fall.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder! Since these oils are expensive, this is a good rule of thumb to get more uses out of them.
DeleteYou are so welcome! I have found that this method makes the products work much more efficiently. In fact I have been able to use the Ladi Avikanto even during the day-- and I have combination skin with an active T-Zone. SO I think that less is more, and certainly heating it up makes it work all the better! Of course this is even better since as you said- these are very expensive-- so being able to stretch a bottle much further is fantastic!
